7 Ways to Support Indie Authors

7 Ways to Support Indie Authors

Today, I want to talk to you about indie authors. The beautiful creatures that are independent, self-published authors. I am an indie author, some of my best internet friends are indie authors and I’m sure a lot of you listening are indie authors, or at least have a friend that is. There are so many men and women (I see you, moms) out there doing the work to get their books into the hands of people all over the world. It’s a lot of work. I literally have only one fully self-written and illustrated book available right now and it took me a really, long time to do that. Admittedly, I should market it more. You know how I feel, though? Like I’m bothering people when I tell them about my book. I’m so proud and so excited of what I created, but when I make a post about it, the little imposter-syndrome girl on my shoulder is like KELLI NO ONE CARES. I know know know some other authors feel that way too. I’ve talked to so many that feel bad over posting about and marketing their books because self-promotion feels like a bother. I believe the trick to helping the bashful Kellis of the world is showing more support to the indies. Going beyond just a “like” on an Instagram post.

I’m going to hit on 7 ways to support an indie author in your life, or a random one on Instagram.

Befriend them all, y’all.

These little ways will add a boost of confidence and reassurance to someone that they’re exactly where they need to be, doing exactly what they’re called to be doing in their life, guilt free.
