Artist, Illustrator, Author,
Artist/illustrator/author Haley McAndrews returns to the Moms Who Create Podcast to talk about her second children’s book, Counting Toasters 1 to 10 (released on January 10th), and how life has changed for her as a mom over the last year.
McAndrews is an award-winning artist, an illustrator, and the author of the Red Stone Art Studio blog. She also self-published two children’s picture books (so far.) She has two teenage stepsons, two daughters ages 3 and 5, and a supportive husband she loves to gush about. In August of last year, she reentered the workforce after 5 years of being a stay-at-home mom.
What do I want to talk about:
How switching roles with my husband has been,
Single parents are superheroes, seriously.
Counting Toasters 1 to 10
What’s next? I’ve been writing on my lunch breaks at work, drawing in my sketchbook. My last sketchbook lasted me ten years, my new one is half full in just a few short months! I am still creating art. The hardest part is having patience with myself - I’m having to pick and choose which hats to wear now, since my time and energy are pulled in different directions now. I believe I can still do everything I want to (which is actually everything as it turns out), I just have to do a better job of planning it all out and picking when to spend time working on what.
