Mom/Teacher/Musician/Producer

I am the mother of two amazing daughters, Elise (11), and Elena (8), and I’m a NYC Department of Education Music teacher and have been in the system since 1998. I use my musical talent to help my students develop their language, writing, and performing skills.

I am bilingual - Spanish(Cuban) and I record and produce original songs in Spanish and English for my Latin-indie band, “The EVT Band” along with my husband Tom who also writes songs and plays the bass. I sing, play piano and guitar and do all the recording and producing of the songs.

In addition, I have two children's musical groups "EVT Kids" and "The Gum Drops. I started EVT Kids when my older daughter Elise was born in 2011. It’s a bilingual family band. Elise and Elena sing on most of the songs. We often write thematic songs that teach vocabulary words in Spanish that parents and teachers can use to help
their children to learn Spanish. We get ideas for songs from topics that are being taught in school as well as things that are happening in our lives and in the world around us. We often collaborate with other artists from all over the world!

The Gum Drops is my other children’s music project. This project is with a friend of mine, Tara Drouin who is also a teacher/musician, and children’s book author. We love writing songs together and have a lot of fun harmonizing with each other. Tara’s daughter Kaya, Elise, and Elena love hanging out with each other and help us by leading the movements for interactive audience participation at our live shows. So much fun!
