My first children’s book, Lucky Ruby is set to launch this fall! It’s about a little girl who celebrates both Hanukkah and Christmas. A classmate, Violet, thinks it’s weird that Ruby celebrates both faiths but comes to find out how Lucky Ruby is! My hope for this book is to educate and teach respect and tolerance of other families faiths and traditions. And, to recognize that even though a family celebrates life differently than you that the common thread is family and love
This book is loosely based on my own life in that I’m Christian and my husband is Jewish and we raised our daughter interfaith. We feel it has enriched and prepared her for life on many levels.
I have been a “stay at home mom” for the past 17 years and loved every minute of it! When my daughter went away to college last year I felt my identity was lost. After having a pity party my husband reminded me that writing a children’s book has always been on my bucket list Fast forward almost a year and here I am getting ready to launch my first book! It has given me a new sense of purpose and zest for life!
I live in Michigan with my wonderful husband and daughter and my other four legged fuzzy child (my dog. Haha). I have a bachelors degree in Public Relations and Advertising in that I organized special events. And then went on to open my own flower and gift shop. Once we became a family I KNEW I wanted to be home with Ruby full time. So I closed my business and fulfilled that dream of being Ruby’s mom full time…and just loved it!
