Artist / Children's Book Illustrator / Poet / Marketing Consultant / Mom

A digital artist, children’s book illustrator, and motherhood art specialist, poet, Madelyne would consider herself the definition of jack-of-all-trades. Her journey as a new mom has inspired a whole new season of artwork, poetry, creativity, the second children’s book (currently under illustration) just to name a few projects.

How did it all start? She began a new black and white series of work. First, a black and white with gold leaf animal series called “Motherhood in the Animal Kingdom” feather mama and baby safari/wildlife/zoo animals. She sells these as giclee and canvas prints - perfect for children’s room or nursery decor. Then when #inktober hi, her black and white palette continued following the different prompts for the recent 2022 challenge. Prompts like “Snacking” “Let Go” “Tempting” “Booger” “Ponytail” “Forget” “Empty” and “Farm” soon emerged with a common theme and interpretation of the word: motherhood. All these prompts had some visual image for me that harked back to moments or memories as a new mom, sometimes even just early motherhood overall.

Motherhood art opened her world to poetry about mom life (which is also available for purchase with custom commission mommy and me portraits on her website), as well as new friends through features on podcasts like Artist/Mother (@artistmotherpodcast), Art by Andrea Ehrhardt (another fellow artist/muralist and soon-to-be mom @artbyandreaehrhardt) and the Busy Mom Pumping Podcast (@busymompumpingpodcast) (features working moms from different professions who pump). She hopes to collaborate with more podcast creators, artist moms, and creative moms overall, who create content that authentically expresses the journey that is motherhood or create while being amazing moms to the littles. Madelyne will also be launching a Pregnancy Affirmation Deck with artwork and affirmations to meditate with during pregnancy or postpartum, as well as creative art therapy workshops for mamas who struggle with anxiety and postpartum depression.

She lives in Austin, Texas. Madelyne graduated from University of California, Irvine with a BA in Art History and BA in Anthropology. She also holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from San Francisco State University and a certification in Art Therapy Coaching.

A self-taught artist of over 30 years, Madelyne works in a variety of mediums: acrylics, oils, watercolors, and digital. Her main mediums are acrylics and digital (Procreate App). She also hosts Paint & Sips, teaches kid workshops/adult art classes (in person and virtual), coaches art therapy and art business workshops, and leads meditation sessions for corporate companies.
Her latest creation, greatest masterpiece and forever artistic inspiration, is her beautiful daughter, Makenna, a child named after grace and beauty in her own right, who will be 1 on May 3rd! Oh how time flies!
